As Oceans of Plastics Day 2024 approaches (19th of November), it’s the perfect moment to reflect on how our daily choices impact the planet—starting with the beauty products we use. Every year, over 10 million tons of plastic waste ends up in our oceans, and unfortunately, the beauty industry is a significant contributor to this crisis. That’s why I’m thrilled to partner with The Edinburgh Natural Skincare Company to present their plastic-free, eco-friendly products that bring both luxury and sustainability to my skincare routine.
I’ll be sharing my personal impressions of two incredible products: the St Clement’s Cold Processed Soap and the Ultra Rich Anti Ageing Face Cream. Together, they not only elevate my skincare routine but also reinforce the importance of sustainable beauty.
The Power of Plastic-Free Skincare
When we think about self-care, it’s easy to forget that real self-care includes caring for the world we live in. Choosing plastic-free skincare isn’t just a beauty trend—it’s a commitment to reducing our environmental footprint. The Edinburgh Natural Skincare Company is at the forefront of this movement, using sustainable materials and reusable packaging to help cut down single-use plastic waste.
Why Plastic-Free Matters: The packaging of typical beauty products often includes layers of plastic, which takes hundreds of years to decompose. Opting for products in glass jars, reusable bags or other sustainable materials helps reduce landfill waste and conserves our planet’s resources.
Exploring The Edinburgh Natural Skincare Products
Ultra Rich Anti Ageing Face Cream
The Ultra Rich Anti Ageing Face Cream, which comes in a stunning glass jar—a smart alternative to plastic packaging that ensures freshness while being environmentally conscious. This cream, with nourishing Avocado Butter and Frankincense, offers a deeply hydrating experience. After using it for a few days, I noticed my skin feeling softer and looking more vibrant.
The reusable glass jar also adds a touch of elegance, whilst reminding me that small choices—like choosing glass over plastic—contribute to a more sustainable future.
St Clement’s Cold Processed Soap
Next up, this luxurious soap immediately catches the eye with its packaging—a beautiful, reusable bag that’s both eco-friendly and stylish. Infused with Sweet Orange and Lemongrass essential oils, it fills my skincare routine with a refreshing, invigorating aroma. The soap is gentle enough for both face and body, leaving my skin feeling soft and clean without a hint of dryness.
This soap is ideal for anyone looking to swap out plastic-bottled cleansers for a natural alternative. It’s thoughtfully crafted with 100% natural ingredients, so every lather feels like a small step towards a greener planet.
Building an Eco-Friendly Beauty Routine
Switching to plastic-free products can feel overwhelming, but small changes can make a big impact. Here are a few tips I’ve embraced to bring more sustainability into my routine:
- Prioritise reusable packaging: Opt for products in glass jars, metal tins or fabric bags that can be reused or repurposed.
- Look for multi-use products: St Clement’s Cold Processed Soap is perfect for both face and body, helping to minimise the number of products and packaging.
- Support eco-conscious brands: Choosing companies like The Edinburgh Natural Skincare Company not only benefits your skin but also supports a brand that’s genuinely committed to protecting the planet.
Reducing Plastic Waste: More Than a Beauty Choice
Embracing a plastic-free beauty routine is more than a trend—it’s a powerful step towards protecting our oceans. By reducing plastic dependency in everyday choices, we’re contributing to cleaner beaches, healthier marine life and a more sustainable world for future generations. Oceans of Plastics Day reminds us that even our smallest decisions, like the soap we use or the jar on our counter, can create echoes of positive change.
I’m grateful to The Edinburgh Natural Skincare Company for inspiring me to continue my journey towards a plastic-free, eco-friendly lifestyle. If you’re considering making the switch to natural skincare, this Oceans of Plastics Day is the perfect time to start.
Let’s make waves for a cleaner, greener planet! 🌊🌱♻️
